Seneca Falls

Seneca Falls: David J. Waite, 64, of Ovid St., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 30th, 2023. All services will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.

David was born in Anchorage, AK, the son of the late Richard and Mary (Warren) Waite. As a young boy, David's family moved all over the world due to his father's military career. When David was 12, Sampson Air Force Base brought the family to Romulus, NY, where this became their home. He graduated from Romulus Central School District, Class of 1977.

David was loved by many. He was the type of person that would talk to anyone wherever he went, and always knew how to make everyone comfortable and laugh. He, himself, had the best laugh. He had a passion for carpentry and woodworking. He adored his children and would always drop everything to spend time with them. Whether fishing, camping, car rides around the Finger Lakes, walking along Sheldrake (or any lake) to pick up sea glass, so much that it is surprising any glass is left to find; He had a true love for nature and the outdoors.

David will be missed by his son, Matthew (Hannah Dunham); daughter, Rachael (Robert) Tomfohr who are also expecting their first child, Everleigh. Debi Von Wald, mother of his children. Long-time girlfriend, Tina Knight. Brothers, Richard (Carol) and William (Cheryl) Waite; sisters, Diane Arnold, Lynn Anne Waite, Christine Gaffney. As well as extended family and friends.
