Alice L. (DelPapa) Wheeler

Canandaigua/Seneca Falls - Alice Louise Wheeler, 67, of Canandaigua, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at House of John, in Clifton Springs, NY. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 10:00-11:00 am with a Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 am. Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Sand Hill Cemetery in Stanley, NY. Alice was born in Seneca Falls, NY on March 26, 1949, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Esposito) DelPapa. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and graduated from Mynderse Academy in 1967. She worked at the Veteran's Hospital in Canandaigua as a nursing assistant. She was also employed at the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, NY. Alice married Bruce Wheeler in 1989 and resided in Canandaigua. They moved to Jacksonville, NC in 1997 where Alice operated a thriving sewing and embroidery business. In 2005, Alice and Bruce made the move to Francesville, IN to be closer to children and grandchildren. Alice treasured gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She traveled the U.S. extensively with her husband Bruce. Besides having a knack for baking, Alice was an excellent cook who loved cooking for family and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Bruce Wheeler in 2014. Alice relocated to Canandaigua in 2015. She looked forward to playing Trivia every week with her friends. Alice always cherished time spent with family and friends. She will be missed by all. Alice is survived by her two sons: Leslie (Rachel) Rescorl, Chicago, IL and Steven (Rachel) Rescorl, Myrtle Beach, SC; her four grandchildren, Macallister (16), Cassidy (15) Rescorl, Chicago, IL, Ziana (11), Leo (9) Rescorl, Myrtle Beach, SC; three brothers, Joseph DelPapa, Seneca Falls, NY, Rocco (Susan) DelPapa, Seneca Falls, NY, David DelPapa, Forestport, NY; one sister, Dorothea DelPapa Kline, Waterloo, NY and several nieces and nephews.
