Anello B. Campagna, age 90, died in comfort with his family by his side on June 22, 2025. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of his family, and he will be laid to rest in St. Columbkille Cemetery in Seneca Falls.
Anello was born July 8, 1934, in Carpineto Romano, province of Rome, Italy. He served 18 months in the Royal Italian Army in 1956. Anello married his beautiful bride, Maria Teresa Battisti in 1957, in Carpineto, where they grew up and fell in love. Two years later, Anello immigrated to Seneca Falls, NY to join his beautiful bride, who immigrated to America in 1955. He was a very courageous man having come to this country and not speaking the language. He endured many challenges yet managed to make a beautiful life for himself and his family.
Anello will be remembered for his many beautiful characteristics. He was a man filled with pride for his family and his wife, second to his vegetable, fig and flower gardens. Anello endured many hardships, especially after World War II, and learned many survival skills. He took up many of his parents’ hobbies of which he passed on to his family. Fascinating to many, was his hobby of wine making. Anello enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge of wine making with others. Most that knew Anello would find him in the garden or creating a very unique piece of art for his family or display in his home. He loved to create handy home improvement gadgets. He enjoyed sharing gardening advice with his family and friends. He especially loved sharing life stories and laughs with family and childhood friends. It was very rare not to hear a story from Anello. Anello also enjoyed hunting and was very determined when challenges presented themselves while fixing things. He would not give up until the task was completed to his preference.
Anello could be found at the center of every dance floor and danced with family and friends every opportunity he had.
In addition to his beloved wife, Maria Teresa, Anello leaves behind his three children; Alberto (Tracey) Campagna, Alfredo (Darlene) Campagna, Rita (the late, Frank) Campagna-Magner; four beautiful grandchildren, Sara (Billy) Garrett, Nicholas, Jillian and Noah, and one beautiful great-grandson, Aidan. He is also survived by his sister, Luigina (Talemeco) Sperdutti, of Segni, Italy. Anello was predeceased by his parents, Alberto and Angela Campagna; sister, Maria (Mario) Colangeli; brother, Eliseo (Costanza) Campagna; brother, Giovanni Battista (Dora) Campagna; sister, Antonietta (Rocco) Cacciotti; and son-in-law, Frank Magner.
Anello started his career at Geb & Souhan in Seneca Falls. He then moved to work for Goulds Pumps in 1969 in the foundry and retired as an assembly worker in 1998. He held fond memories of those he worked with who were like family.
