Burton J. Ingalls, age 85, of Varick, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 26, 2022. A Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. William Lewis, will be held on Tuesday, March 8th at 6 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls.
Burton was born in 1936, the son of the late Raymond and Frances (Hodgeson) Ingalls in Quebec, Canada. At a young age Burt's family relocated to the Finger Lakes where he grew up and graduated from Romulus Central School. On November 15th, 1955 he was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Swinehart and the two enjoyed over 66 years together. Burton was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially salmon fishing. He was always open to a game of cards and was known to hop in the car and visit with friends along the way; you never knew if Burt would be stopping by. He worked for Xerox in Webster, NY and retired after a career of over 40 years with them. After retirement, Burton and Carolyn purchased an RV and made it a point to travel the United States, including a trip to Alaska. In their later years, Burton and Carolyn enjoyed being snowbirds; staying in their RV in Florida in the winter, and returning to Varick for the summer months.
Burton is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; sons, Doug (Teresa) and Todd (Lisa) Ingalls; 4 grandchildren, Ariel, Aaron, Eleni and Sarah; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Dawson; older sister, Pam Goodermote; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Ingalls and sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and Harold Hathaway.
