March 15, 1946 — January 2, 2023

Carol Turner, 76, of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at Geneva General Hospital. In keeping with Carol's wishes, all services will be held privately, at the convenience of her family. Donations in memory may be made to Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River St., Waterloo, NY 13165.

Carol was born in Geneva, NY, the daughter and youngest child of the late Jake and Nettie (Bowers) VanDeMortel. She was a graduate of DeSales High School in Geneva. On July 29th, 1967, she was united in marriage with William C. Turner and the couple shared 44 wonderful years together until Bill's passing in 2010. For years she worked at Sylvania in Seneca Falls until their closure and then worked and retired from Kodak in Rochester. Carol had a zest for life and keeping people on their toes. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and when she wasn't playing cards, she could be found spending time with her family and friends. She also had a soft spot for her cats and loved all animals.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (James) Sweenburg; grandson, Justin Sweenburg; beloved niece, Kathy Craig; brother-in-law, Jeffrey (Marquita) Turner; and special friend who was like a second daughter, Ellen Cavali; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her 10 siblings.
