Charles H. Putney

Charles H. Putney, 81, lifelong Seneca Falls “laker”, passed unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 26th, 2025. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5th from 10AM-12NOON, immediately followed by a funeral, at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Burial will follow at Canoga Cemetery.

Charles was born in Elmira, NY, son of the late George and Norma (Gray) Putney. He grew up in Seneca Falls along the shores of Cayuga lake, where he learned to enjoy all that the lake and the Finger Lakes had to offer. As a younger man, he enjoyed boating, water skiing, and really any reason to be out on the lake. He was a lifelong fisherman, fishing during the warmer weather but also spent the winter months in an ice shanty, ice fishing. Away from the water, Charles was an avid hunter, and he loved camping. He was also a very skilled woodworker and was generally good working with and building things with his hands.

As a father, Charles enjoyed spending time with his sons and letting them experience the lake much like he did. He tried to show them the way of the lake and they experienced the same lifestyle he grew up with. As a father, he tried to teach but also be there for his sons. When the boys were younger, Charles enjoyed taking them on vacations and going on adventures.

Professionally, Charles had worked a number of years at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls before working for Xerox in Rochester, as a foreman, retiring early so that he could enjoy more of life.

Charles is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Hubbard-Putney; son, Quintin Putney; step-daughters, Heidi (Paul) Peone and Marcy (Jered) Mann; grandchildren, Gary and Heather; step-grandchildren, Derrik (Madison), Alec (Amanda), Erin, Olivia, Tessa, Gabriella; great-grandson, Logan; step great-grandson, Tallon; with a step great-granddaughter on the way this December; sisters, Valerie (Michael) Annetta, Gayle Ludd, Janice (Jeff) Williams, Renee (John) Caratozzolo; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his son, Jason in 2017.
