Clarence Acor Jr., 85, known to most as "Sonny", passed away at Huntington Living Center on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023. In keeping with Sonny's wishes, a private graveside service was held at his family's convenience.
Clarence was born in Waterloo, NY, the son of the late Clarence Sr. and Clara (Young) Acor. He attended Waterloo High School and served in the US Navy from 1956 - 1960. Shortly after returning home he was united in marriage at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls with the former Catherine Carbone and the couple celebrated 63 years together this past August. Sonny had worked as a machinist for over 40 years at Goulds Pumps. He was a long time member of both Goulds bowling and golf leagues. He was a big NY Giants football fan, with one of his fondest memories being the time he drove Coach Tom Coughlin in the Waterloo celebration parade after their Superbowl win in 2008. He was an active member of the Kirk Casey American Legion Post 366 where he'd been a member since 1975 and was also a member of their color guard.
Sonny is survived by his dearest wife, Catherine; daughters, Christine Dean and Cathleen Acor; 2 granddaughters, Rachael Acor and April (Jordan) Munson; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his son, Ralph Acor; son-in-law, Timothy Dean; and brothers, Fred and Duane Acor.
Donations in memory may be made to Kirk Casey American Legion Post 366, 48 State St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148.
