Dave was born in Harrisburg, PA, the son of the late Howard and Ruth (Gustainis) DeLelys. His family moved to Seneca Falls, where Dave attended local schools and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1965. He served proudly in the US Army from 1966-1968, and upon returning home, took employment with Gould's Pumps in Seneca Falls. He worked for and retired from Gould's after spending more than 42 years with them. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed fishing, and was a big Volkswagen aficionado and shared those passions with his son, David. He enjoyed attending car shows and at one point was the proud owner of a 1974 VW Thing. He also was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls, where he and his wife, Jean, were integral with the Sunday collections for over 30 years.
Dave felt his biggest accomplishments in life were his duty to serve the people. He served for 2 years on the Seneca Falls Village Council, and when the village dissolved into the Town of Seneca Falls, he served another 8 years with the Seneca Falls Town Council. Dave enjoyed every minute of his job working for the people of Seneca Falls.
