David F. Niles, 87, of Seneca Falls, NY passed away on July 4, 2022, at Geneva General Hospital after a short illness. Dave was born in Bath, NY on April 24, 1935. He was predeceased by his parents Jerome Niles (1974) and Charlotte (Koon) Niles (1986), his wife Peggy (Kirker) Niles (2014) and his son-in-law Robert K. Goldman (2021).
Dave graduated from SUNY Alfred in 1956 with a degree in Dairy Science. Dave served two years in the US Army following college and was called back as a reservist for two additional years and was stationed in Alaska. Dave worked for Polly-O Dairy in Campbell, NY and later went on to have a 36+ year career with Equifax in Syracuse as an
insurance investigator.
Dave married his college sweetheart, Peggy Kirker in 1957 and called the Syracuse area home for over 40 years before they relocated to Seneca Falls upon retirement in 1997.
Dave loved spending time with his family, and especially his grandkids, at the lake. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises in Hawaii and the Mediterranean. Dave was a huge NY Yankees and Syracuse Basketball fan, loved spending time on Cayuga Lake, loved researching his family's genealogy and was a civil war history buff. Dave was a member of the Fur, Fin and Feather Club in Seneca Falls and began a 50-year tradition of traveling to Quebec with friends and family for an annual fishing trip.
Dave is survived by his daughter Karen (Niles) Goldman of Fayetteville; son Mark Niles of Seneca Falls; grandchildren: Christine, Steve, Tim, and Sam Goldman; beloved companion, Mary Lou Benassi; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 22nd at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY. Burial will take place at St. Columbkille Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dave may be made to Make-a-Wish of Central New York, 5005 Campuswood Dr, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
