Donald E. Scott, 103, most recently of Ontario, and previously of Penfield, and Bluff Point, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, with his family at his side. In accordance with Don’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held in Seamans Cemetery in Savona, NY, where he and his longtime bride, F. Winona “Winnie” Fenton Scott, will be buried together. Donations in memory may be directed to Seamans Cemetery, 1 Seaman Pl, Savona, NY 14879.
Don was born in Bath, NY, to the late, Glenn and Bernice (Kidder) Scott. After high school, Don enlisted in the US Navy, serving during WW II, where he was primarily stationed in Alaska during the Aleutian Islands campaign. Upon returning home, he attended Sampson College in Romulus where he received an associate degree. He then furthered his education at Bowling Green State University, receiving a BS in business administration, and then his master’s in education from Syracuse University. He was united in marriage with F. Winona “Winnie” Fenton on September 4th, 1948 in Savona, NY. Don was also a 75-year member of the Steuben Lodge #0112 F. & A.M. in Bath, NY.
Don had worked for Penfield Central School District as the Assistant Superintendent for Business for many years and retired in 1977. After retiring, he, along with his uncle and cousins, built a cedar home overlooking Keuka Lake.
Don is survived by his daughter, Linda (Thomas) Nichols; sons, Tedd (Yvonne) and Jay (Katharine) Scott; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of nearly 73 years, Winnie.
