Seneca Falls

Donna L. Loncosky, 87, of the Town of Tyre, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.

Donna was born in Hughesville, PA, on April 16, 1936; the daughter of the late Russell and Ruby (Brown) Andrews. She grew up on and loved the Andrews family dairy farm in Emporium, PA. Donna also had a deep reverence for the great outdoors and taking trips up Salt Run. She attended school in Cameron County, PA. On July 15th, 1954, in Emporium, she married her soulmate, Ardell Loncosky. In 1962, they moved their family to Seneca Falls when Ardell sought employment at the American Can Company in Geneva. Donna was a homemaker and became a neighborhood Mom as her kids were growing up. Kids in Tyre were always welcomed in her home and fed lots of PB&J sandwiches from her kitchen. Donna was a devoted member of the Tyre United Methodist Church. She was the TUMC annual Election Day dinner ticket taker for over 30 years. Donna was passionate about singing and sang in the church choir for many years. Donna was a member of the Magee Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years. She served as secretary in the fire department for over 30 years, she worked numerous Saturday night Bingos at the #1 fire hall and was a member of the Seneca County Volunteer Fire Police Association for several decades. In the fire service community, Donna was affectionately nicknamed "Mother Magee". She was a fire service Mom to many men and women in Seneca County. Donna had a lifelong thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader. She loved researching her family history and genealogy and sharing the stories with her family and friends. She was the official keeper of the Cameron County "genealogy Black Book" for her family. She was inducted as a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1991. Throughout her entire life, Donna tried to always put others and their needs before her own. She had a philanthropic way about her and made sure to help those around her whenever she could in any way that she could.

When we see songbirds at the bird feeders, when we see a brown-eyed susan flower growing up from a wild place, or when we see a farm and a barn, please think of the girl and the woman who always had a selfless love and devotion to her family and friends.

Donna is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ardell; children, Ardell II (June), Laurie (Terry Busby), Shane (Cindy); grandchildren, Jessica Loncosky; Shane (Beth) Loncosky Jr., Nadine (Neil) Lane, great-grandchildren, Archer and Finley Loncosky, Neil Lane II; brother, Ron (Kay Ann) Andrews; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
