It is with great sadness that the family of Doug Cousins, of Seneca Falls, announce his passing on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a courageous health battle. He was 83. There will be a Celebration of Doug’s life held on Friday, August 21st from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Woody’s Bar and Grill located at the Lux Hotel at 2468 NY-414 in Waterloo. Private burial, with full military honors, held at the convenience of his family.

Doug was born in Seneca Falls, son of the late Charles “Doug” and Irene (Vogt) Cousins. He graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1962. The following year Doug enlisted in the United States Army, where he spent most of his time in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1966. Later on, Doug would attend Cayuga Community College, where he received his associate’s degree in business administration in 1981.

Doug’s working career had taken him all over the United States. His area of expertise was in human resources, and he had worked all over for the federal government. After an accomplished career, Doug finally called it quits and retired from the US Forest Service in 2019. It was along his travels that he came to meet Marie Snyder, the woman who would become his wife. Doug and Marie were married on July 11th, 1992, in Naples, FL, and have been by each other’s side for over 35 years.

Doug grew up around the game of golf. His father, being the course pro at the Seneca Falls Country Club, allowed Doug to hone his skills. He loved golf and played his entire life. Doug was also a long-time member of the Seneca Falls Country Club. In addition to his love of golf, Doug always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Stacey Jansen; step-son, Jesse Emerson and his fiancé, Irena Gardner; step-daughter, Jackie Fisher; grandchildren, Cassidy and Bryce Cousins, Cadence Smith, Kyler Emerson, and Colton Smith; dearest Izzy Chicoine; as well as a host of extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his son, Brian Cousins; an infant brother, James Cousins; and son-in-law, Randy Jansen.
