It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Eleanor J. (Griggs) Andrews, who passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at Wesley Healthcare Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Eleanor/Ellie was born in Tyre, NY, the youngest of 6 children to the late Arthur and Bessie (Frantz) Griggs.

Ellie attended school in the Seneca Falls School System and graduated with a Regent's Diploma from Mynderse Academy in 1951.  After graduation, she worked at GTE Sylvania for over seven years.  During that time, she met and married the love of her life, Charles (Chuck) E. Andrews, Sr, in 1955, and together they raised 3 children and celebrated 57 years of marriage until Chuck's passing in 2013.

Ellie began working for the Seneca Falls Central School District as a Library Aide, after their children started school and worked there for over 20 years, taking supplemental college courses to further her education.  Working in the school district enabled Ellie to enjoy similar vacation schedules to their children. She retired in 1991 and fulfilled a life-long dream of RV-ing/traveling throughout the USA and cruising the open seas with Chuck, meeting many wonderful people and rekindling old friendships along their journeys. Ellie and Chuck also enjoyed escaping the cold weather of NY to spend the winter months in LaBelle, Florida. Ellie returned to upstate NY, full-time, in 2018 to live closer to her family, year-round.

Ellie also enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, board games and word searches with family and friends, country music, cake decorating, creating items using various methods of arts and crafts and graciously helping her family, friends and community.  She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church, the Good Sam Club, a former Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout co-leader and was a life-long Red Jacket Vol. Fire Dept Auxiliary member and officer for nearly 10 years. She also served on various boards and committees.

Ellie was known for her fun-loving spirit, wit, warmheartedness, generosity, diligence, exceptional organizational and creative abilities and for her love of hosting family events and celebrations.

In addition to her husband, Ellie was predeceased by her parents, all her siblings; Evelyn Griggs (infant), Orville Griggs, Rowena Crawford, Winnefred Young and Arthur Griggs, her eldest son, Brian E. Andrews and his wife, Lori Andrews (Andrus), of Seneca Falls and many close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Anthony) Baggetta of Saratoga Springs, NY, and a son, Charles E. Andrews, Jr. (Cynthia) of Penfield, NY, 4 grandchildren, Samantha Andrews of Waterloo, NY, Courtney Andrews of Seneca Falls, NY, Caleb Andrews of Columbus, OH, Caley (Daniel) Vivolo of Warrenton, VA, plus 2 great-granddaughters; Zyionna and Ariana Moore of Waterloo, NY. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Griggs (Arthur) of LaBelle, FL, cousins, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful healthcare workers in the NY Capital Region at various physician groups, senior living communities, hospitals and Wesley Health Care Center, for their expertise and kindness for all they have done in caring for our mother/grandmother over the past eight years. The family also wishes to thank the entire team at Community Hospice Care, for their dedication and compassionate care of our mother/grandmother during the past several days of her well-loved life.

Donations, if desired, may be made in Eleanor's Memory to the United Methodist Church of Tyre, 714 Gravel Rd, Seneca Falls, NY 13148 or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York NY 10001.
