Middletown, CT/Waterloo, NY: Passed away on December 8th, 2020 due to complications of Covid-19. A private graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown, CT at the convenience of the family.
Born in Middletown, CT, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen (Nelson) Peterson, "Ellie" spent most of her life in the Middletown area. She had many passions in life, including, knitting, crocheting, and reading. Not one to be afraid of a little work, Ellie was known for her excellent work ethic as "She had things to do.". A secretary for Wesleyan University for over 30 years, she was organized and always ready to do her job. Eleanor had relocated to the Waterloo, NY area to be close to her daughter with whom she shared a special bond.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, James T. Mathison and 4 older siblings. Survived by a son, James W. Mathison of Bunnell, FL; daughter, Gail (Ros) Parks of Seneca Falls, NY; and 3 beloved grandchildren.
