Evelyn Rasmussen, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away in the comfort of her own home, on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026. She was 102 years old. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21st, at 10:30 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2414 North Route 414, Waterloo, NY. She will be laid to rest in St. Columbkille Cemetery.

Evelyn was born in Seneca Falls, daughter of the late James and Evelyn (Meeks) Callan. She attended Mynderse Academy where she graduated with the Class of 1941. Immediately after graduation, she started her career with NY Telephone Company in Seneca Falls as a phone operator, where she worked for the next 35 years and retired in 1978. It was during her time on the job that she became acquainted with Arthur Rasmussen. The two were married and had two sons before Arthur passed in 1958.

In retirement, Evelyn was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and found great joy in spending time with her family. She especially liked travelling around to see her family, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a big fan of Syracuse basketball, and was known to make her voice heard at the games.

Evelyn possessed a strong faith and was very involved with her church. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran’s Altar Guild and was the last remaining charter member of the church. She will be missed dearly.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Arthur “Sam”, and James “Ned” Rasmussen; two grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer) and Nathan Rasmussen; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Rasmussen; nieces, Becky (Jerry) Cox, Janet (Al) Havican, Cindy Callan; nephews, Timithy (Chris) Callan, Paul (Judy) Griffith, Wayne (Linda) Rasmussen, and Dana (Lenni) Nyberg; nephew-in-law, Earl Billings. In addition to her husband, Arthur, Evelyn was predeceased by a brother, James Callan Jr.; daughter-in-law, Christine Rasmussen; nieces Candie (Kevin) Heinicke, and Tracy Billings.
