Seneca Falls: Floyd Jones, Sr., age 92, of Green St. in Seneca Falls, passed away at Geneva General Hospital on Friday, April 8th, 2022. Calling Hours immediately followed by a funeral service will be Friday, April 15th from 12 NOON - 2 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment will be in Springbrook Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Meals On Wheels via the Seneca County Office for the Aging, 2465 Bonadent Dr., Suite 4, Waterloo, NY 13165.
Floyd was born in Moravia, NY, the son of the late, Robert and Isabelle (Willis) Jones. He moved to Seneca Falls in 1943 and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1947. In July of 1955 he married the former Georgianna "Skip" Conley and the two shared 46 years together until her passing in 2002. After many years working for Evans Chematics, he retired in 1991.
One of Floyd's lifelong passions was music. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, or just about any instrument that had strings. During the 1950's and 60's he played with a few local country western bands. A man who liked working with his hands, he enjoyed woodworking, constructing shadow boxes for his wife's collectables, and had remodeled the family home in his younger years. He also enjoyed playing euchre and scat card games.
Floyd is survived by his son, Brian D. (Jeanine Watkins) Jones of Seneca Falls; daughters, Sharon Jones of Seneca Falls and Marilyn Burchim of Hixson, TN; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his beloved wife, Georgianna, he was predeceased by a son, Floyd W. Jones, Jr.; brothers, Leslie and Edward Jones; sister, Dorothy Bennett; as well as many many dear friends.
