Francis W. "Frank" Eighmey

Seneca Falls - Francis W. "Frank" Eighmey, 84, of Adams St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday (January 2, 2018) at his residence. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St, Seneca Falls, NY on Friday (April 20) from 4 PM to 7 PM. Frank's Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (April 21) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, NY with Reverend Roy Kiggins, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls, NY, at the convenience of the family. The Seneca Falls Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the funeral home on Friday evening, April 20th, at 7 PM Frank was born in Seneca Falls, NY on April 6, 1933 the son of the late Sherman & Emma Baldassari Eighmey. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War at Fort Devens in the Boston area, having numerous interesting adventures as an MP. He was retired from Gould's Pumps of Seneca Falls, after 46 years of service, where he was for many years the manager of Industrial Engineering. Frank and his staff were integral to ensuring that fair wages were paid while productivity and profit were maintained for the company. In his last role for Goulds, Frank was named to a small team of managers and engineers who traveled the world for two years, evaluating the state of manufacturing and how that related to the future. Frank said that they learned a great deal, and when work was done, enjoyed the locale they were in. Frank was a member of the S.M.S., the Seneca Falls Knights of Columbus Council #222, and the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, as well as the Fur Fin and Feather Club, all of Seneca Falls. Many life-long friendships were formed in these organizations, especially among the "Fur-Finners". Frank always found some time to relax and do his favorite things, fishing, traveling and spending time with good friends, both old and new. In 1968 he married the perfect partner for these pursuits, the love of his life, Katherine "Kay" Eighmey. Together Frank and Kay took many tours in the U.S. and overseas, cruised to Alaska and the Canadian Maritimes, visited Spain, Ireland and many other countries, and had a wonderful three weeks exploring Baja, California. Pursuing their passion for fishing on lakes and rivers, they even flew several times to remote fishing camps in Northern Canada, and for many years looked forward to an annual trip to Black Lake with their nephews and their families. Within his family, and in the neighborhood that he had lived in all his life, Frank was known for his generosity and in giving good advice, always willing to give his time to those who needed it. Frank is survived by his wife, Katherine Schoonover Eighmey of Seneca Falls whom he married on December 7, 1968. His step-sons Kit (Bonnie) Carson of Rexville, NY, Clare (Kathy) Carson of Pine City, NY, his sister-in-law Isabelle Eighmey of Seneca Falls, and several nephews and a niece. Frank's family would like to give a special thanks to his oldest friend, Jim Cooley of Waterloo, who spent untold hours with Frank and Kay at hospitals and at home over the last months, reminiscing, joking, and helping in many ways. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Sherman & Richard Eighmey, and step-daughter, Carol Bates.
