Gordon "BJ" Murphy

Waterloo: Gordy J. Murphy, 46, of Waterloo, passed unexpectedly at Geneva General Hospital on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 19th at 11 AM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls.

Gordy was born in Geneva, NY, the son of Mary (Hurlburt) Murphy and the late Larry Murphy. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Over the years he worked for various local businesses, including, Seneca Knitting Mill, Tri-City Cab, and most recently Kost Tire/Mr. Tire in Geneva for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his daughters, and grandchildren. He loved taking his grandkids fishing, teaching them about gardening, and watching them grow. Whenever he talked of his daughters, it was always in a caring way with love and compassion.

Gordy is survived by his fiancé of 29 years, Jennifer "Jenny" Rotunda; daughters, Kayla (fiancé Ryan Avery) Murphy, Rebecca Murphy; mother, Mary (Gary Anderson) Murphy; grandchildren, Izaak Avery and Chanelle Bennett; siblings, Kimberly Grove, Larry "Bub" (Angela) Murphy, Stacy Arlington, Steven (Laura) Murphy; step-siblings, Veronica (Rick) VanAuken, Barbara Anderson, Robin McFall, Gary (Nute) Anderson, Johanna Westfall, Tommy Westfall; mother-in-law, Sherry Rotunda and her husband, Paul Trapp; brother-in-law, Jeremy Trapp; sister-in-law, Jessica Trapp; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends that became like family. In addition to his father Larry, Gordy is predeceased by an infant daughter, Lily, and father-in-law, George Gottschall.
