Janet E. (Jenkins) Fulkerson

Seneca Falls - Janet E. Fulkerson, 96, of Leland Dr., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, (January 26, 2018) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva NY. Janet was born on January 11, 1922 in Brockport, NY, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Wilson Jenkins. She was a lifetime resident of Seneca Falls. Janet was a graduate of Brockport State College where she received her degree in education. She retired from the Seneca Falls School District, where she taught for many years, mostly at 5th grade. She was a member of the Delta Kamma Gamma sorority; Seneca County Retired Teachers Association; and a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls, NY. Janet enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was a member of many bridge clubs, most importantly the "Holy Thursday" group of friends. For many years she wintered in Florida with her husband, Donald. She was a cancer survivor for over 50 years and made frequent pilgrimages to the Basilica of St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada in thanksgiving and faith. The family would like to give a special thanks to Marianne Allen and her caregivers. Janet is survived by: 1 - Son - James (Mary) Fulkerson, Seneca Falls, NY 1 - Daughter - Mary Jo (James) Shrey, Seneca Falls, NY 1 - Brother - Frank Jenkins, Brockport, NY 4 - Grandchildren - Charlie (Connie) Foster Corey (Courtney) Foster Anne (Derek) Dyson Emily (Derrick Murphy) Fulkerson 4 - Great Grandchildren 11 - Nieces and nephews & several cousins Along with her parents, Janet is predeceased by her husband, Donald, who passed away in 2004, and 1 brother - Robert Jenkins, who died in 1945, fighting for his country in WWII. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St, Seneca Falls on Friday (May 4, 2018) from 3 PM to 6 PM. Janet's Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (May 5) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. Contributions may be made in her name to The American Cancer Society, 11205 S.
