Janice A. "Jan" (Manzer) Davis

January 2, 1954 — June 24, 2016

Janice "Jan" A. Davis Aka "Ma Dukes" Janice "Jan" Davis passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24th, at the MM Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua, after a long fight with multiple sclerosis. Jan was a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and a caring friend to all. Per Jan's wishes there will be no prior calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice or the Rocky Mountain MS Center Tissue Bank, Department of Neurology, 12700 East 19th Ave., Mail Stop B182 RC2, Aurora, CO. 80045, where she selflessly donated to help find a cure for this disease. Jan loved being around people, always saw the good in everyone and greeted all with a big smile and a warm hello. She never let her illness get in the way of being a Mom and confidant to all who met and knew her. She was a very active participant in most of the activities at the CCC and especially loved playing bingo, words with friends, and scrabble. Every year she volunteered at the MS Walk, handing out water or helping in any way she could, never caring about rain, cold, snow or heat. They were walking for a cure. She also volunteered at the convenience cart at the center, where she could greet and see people. She graduated from Midlakes High school and attended Potsdam State, where she earned her degree in math education. She also worked at Horizon Water Conditioning where she helped anyone with a water problem or pool supplies. She is survived by her three children, Jason (Bobbie Jo) Davis, Shortsville, NY, Mark (Michele) Davis, Virginia, and Casey (Amie DeVito) Davis, Clifton Springs, NY. She is also survived by her brothers, Forrest (Woody) Manzer and his wife Jane of Buchanan, NY, Bryan (Kathleen Corcoran) Manzer of North Carolina. Sisters, Judy (Jamie) Ridley of North Carolina and Joyce (Victor) French, Waterloo, NY. A sister-in-law, Kristin Quayle of Canandaigua, NY. Grandchildren, Kelly Rae, Elijah, Skyler, Logan, Meghann, Gauge and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her mother and father, Jean and Albert Manzer and her brother Bruce Manzer. The family would like to thank all her nurses and aides at the MM Ewing Center for the kind and loving care of her for the years she had been there. She loved and cared about them all. Also thank you to the ER nurses, nurses on third floor and especially ICU nurses for the kind, compassionate and dignified care she was given. Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Waterloo, NY. Please leave a condolence or light a candle in memory of Jan at: doranfuneralhome.com.
