Seneca Falls - John C. Povero, Jr., 85, formerly of Fall St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Friday (May 11, 2018) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY. Family and friends may attend John's Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday (May 15) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, NY, with Reverend Michael Merritt, Parochial Vicar as celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. John was born in Seneca Falls, NY on November 18, 1932 the son of the late John C. & Mary Rose Simone Povero Sr.. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the former Seneca Army Depot where he was a security guard. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls and a member of Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls. He was a former member of the Seneca Falls/Waterloo Knights of Columbus Council #992. John, along with his late wife, Rose Marie, loved their trips to the casino. John and Rose Marie were always together. He is survived by: 3 sisters - Gloria (Sully) Ciancaglini - Geneva, NY Patricia (William) Mattice - Geneva, NY Assunta "Sunny" Povero - Penfield, NY 1 brother - Robert (Donna) Povero - Waterloo, NY His sister-in-law - Mary Ann Povero - Virginia Several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Rose Marie Povero who died October 8, 2004 and his brother, William Povero who died March 21, 2008 Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
