John J. "Jack" Scanlon

John J. "Jack" Scanlon

John "Jack" Scanlon, 89, of Seneca Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024.  John was born in Syracuse, NY in 1934 to Irish immigrants, Patrick and Marie. 

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary (née Klix), and his children, Deborah (Jeff) Messmer, Patrick (Allison), Brendan, and Cate. As well as grandsons Zachary (Elizabeth) and Elliott, great-granddaughter Lucy, his twin sister, Peggie Hall, and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember their shared moments.

John was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, Donald and Joanne, and most recently, his son, Tim.

John was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School and Villanova University.  He began his career with Goulds Pumps in 1959 as a regional salesman, to growing and leading multiple international businesses and retiring as President of Goulds Pumps International. In retirement John was active in the Seneca County Habitat for Humanity and finally had time to enjoy home in the Finger Lakes with his family.

John's life was exemplified by a legacy of hard work and commitment to providing for his family. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit remains a comforting presence. May he rest in eternal peace.

A Funeral Mass to honor the lives of John and his son, Tim, will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 am at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in prayer and remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Seneca County Habitat for Humanity, 20 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148 or Canoga Fire Department, 3576 NY-89, Seneca Falls, would be welcome.
