Seneca Falls - John Nicholas Scaramuzzino, 96, formerly of Fall St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday (April 11, 2017) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Friday (April 21) from 4 PM to 7PM. John's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (April 22) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls by Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis/St. Clare Parish, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165. The Seneca Falls Honor Guard will conduct military honors on Friday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home. John was born in Seneca Falls on July 1, 1920 the son of the late Domenico & Mariangela Sgro Scaramuzzino. He was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. John worked many years at Geb & Souhan, and was retired from Gould's Pumps of Seneca Falls. He was the recipient of the 2000 DA Pedulla Award, and was a member of the Rumseyville Sportsman's Club and the V.F.W., Waterloo Memorial Post#6433, Waterloo, NY. John was also a member of St. Patrick's Church and proudly served as a church usher for 62 years. In addition to his parents, John is pre-deceased by his wife, Rose Bonacci Scaramuzzino who died January 21, 2002, and by his several brothers and sisters. John is survived by his two daughters: Mariangela Sandroni and Cecelia Dorn; his three grandchildren: Kristen (Patrick) McDermond, Tricia (James) Fitzmaurice, and Stephanie (William) Mathewson; and by his nine great-grandchildren who were the light of his life: Joseph, Matthew and Katy McDermond; Nicholas and Zachary Hensch; Norah and Jack Fitzmaurice; and Carly and Avery Mathewson.
