John J Stahl

Waterloo - John J. Stahl, 89, formerly of Virginia St., Waterloo, NY, died Tuesday (March 31, 2015) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may attend John's Graveside Service on Friday (April 10) at 12 Noon at St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo, NY, with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Mary's Church, Waterloo, NY, officiating. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to Beverly Animal Shelter, River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165. John was born with the Town of Fayette, NY on July 7, 1925 the son of the late J. Victor & Ruth Bird Stahl. He had resided most of his life in Waterloo. He was retired from the former Seneca Army Depot, Romulus, NY. John also had retired from the Seneca County Sheriff's Department where he was a midnight police and fire dispatcher. He also had worked for Midstate Body Works in Waterloo. He was a life member and past assistant chief for the Waterloo Fire Department and a life member of the Fayette Fire Department. He was a life member of the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge #992, the Seneca Seniors & the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, & the Northern New York Fire Association. He is survived by: His nephews - Stephen (Amy) Wood & Family - Waterloo, NY Ronald Wood & Family - Shortsville, NY His cousin - Dennis Stahl - Waterloo, NY In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Stahl who died in 2012, & his sister, Janice Wood.
