Seneca Falls - Joseph P. Avveduti Sr., 90, of 6 Hoag St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday (January 17, 2018) at the Homestead in Penn Yan, NY. Joe was born in Seneca Falls, NY on August 11, 1927 the son of the late Americo & Teresa Sorrepera Avveduti. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Gould's Pumps of Seneca Falls. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, the S.M.S. of Seneca Falls, the Sons of Italy, Geneva, NY, & the Sampson Salts Naval Group of Romulus, NY. Joe had been an avid golfer in his younger days and played the Trombone for the former S.M.S. band. He was a gifted handyman who always said, "If someone else can fix it or make it, I can do it too but it may take me a little longer." He is survived by: His wife, Vilma Verzillo Avveduti - Seneca Falls, NY, whom he married on June 18, 1949 1 daughter - Erica (David) Dec - Seneca Falls, NY 2 sons - Joseph (Carol) Avveduti Jr. - Alexandria, Virginia Stephen (Lynne) Avveduti - Niskuayuna, NY 6 grandchildren - Leigh (Jon) Elkaim, Joseph (Gina) Avveduti III, David (Sydney) Avveduti, Layne & Reed Avveduti, & John Dec. His great grandson, Hudson Elkaim 1 sister - Anita Fitzgerald - Seneca Falls, NY 1 brother - Paul (Velma) Avveduti - Seneca Falls, NY Many nieces and nephews The family would like to extend "a special thanks to Anna & the nursing staff at The Homestead" at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Penn Yan, NY. It was Joe's request that funeral services and burial be private for family members. There will be no calling hours.
