Rochester/Seneca Falls: Joseph D. Sinicropi, 83, of Rochester and formerly of Seneca Falls, passed away with his family by his side at Journey Home in Greece on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022. Calling Hours will be Saturday, September 10th from 11 AM - 1 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 1:30 PM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Joe was born in Seneca Falls, NY, the son of the late Dominick and Mary (DiDona) Sinicropi. He attended Mynderse Academy and graduated with the class of 1956. Upon graduation, Joe joined the US Navy and served his country proudly. On December 20, 1958 he married Maryellen Bishop at St. Patrick's Church, and the two have shared over 63 years together. The couple moved from Seneca Falls to Rochester in 1959, where Joe was employed by Rochester Gas & Electric.
Joe had many interests and talents. He was passionate about his family, both his family of origin and the family he made with Maryellen, but his grandchildren were his pride and joy. In his youth he enjoyed being outdoors, archery hunting, boating and dancing. Later in life he enjoyed various forms of Art including American paintings and artists as well as the game of golf. Joe was an avid golfer who not only studied the game, but also enjoyed teaching it to others. He took great pride in his students who excelled at the game. Joe was Champion of the Durand Eastman Sr. Golf League multiple times.
For many years, Joe worked as an automotive salesman and wholesaler to the various car dealerships in the Rochester area. Later, he sold antiques and served on the Board at The Windmill Farm and Craft Market in Penn Yan. Wherever he went, Joe took an interest in people, and made strong connections with them.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Maryellen Bishop Sinicropi; children, Kelly (Robert) Forst, Dominick (Kim) Sinicropi, Kathleen (Steven Larsen) Sinicropi, Thomas Sinicropi, Kerry (Adam) Papaj, Jason (Stacy) Sinicropi; beloved grandchildren, Nick, Kyle, Joe, Alicia, Paige, Michael, Aidan, Arik, Taylor, Ashley, Ben; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Vito (Joyce) Sinicropi, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by two sisters, Josephine Herchak and Marian Bartran.
