Lewis J. Amidon, 79, known around town as "Butch" or "Moose", passed away with his family by his side on Monday, May 6th, 2024 at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo. All services will be private, held at the convenience of his family. Donations in memory may be directed to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
Moose was born and raised in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Lewis R. and Mary (Durnin) Amidon. Over the years he worked for a few local companies including Mickey Schaertl doing masonry work, Conley & Son Excavation as a general laborer, and the ARC (Mozaic) as a general laborer. He could be found around town walking just about everywhere, and he was big into physical fitness. He also loved to hunt and fish and be outdoors.
Butch was a very kindhearted person who was always open to helping; whether it was shoveling snow in the winter or mowing lawns in the summer, he tried every day to help family, friends and neighbors in need. He will be greatly missed by his family as well as his many friends.
Lewis is survived by his brothers, Harvey (Rena) of SC, John of Canoga; sister, Lorraine (Gary) Bowen of VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Theresa Balliette, Mary Mansell, and Kathleen Sutterby. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Huntington Living Center for their care to Lewis.
