Lorraine Bishop, 76, longtime resident of Seneca Falls, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 at Geneva General Hospital. A time for family and friends to gather will be held on Wednesday, April 1st, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, with a funeral service to immediately follow, at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment to take place at the convenience of the family. Donations in memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Lorraine was born in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Eugene and Josephine (Coggins) Helpard. She grew up in a military family, moving around a lot as a kid before the family settled in the Seneca Falls area. She attended St. Patrick’s School as a young girl, before attending Mynderse Academy, graduating with the Class of 1967.

For several years, Lorraine worked for Walmart in Waterloo, primarily as the fitting room clerk. It was here that she met Robert A. Bishop, who she would come to marry on September 1st, 1993.

Lorraine had a lifelong love of animals, and had her favorite pets over the years, with her dog Missy being her baby and all time favorite. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, doll and teddy bear collecting, and native American themed collectables. She also liked to color adult coloring books. Lorraine was a big family person, those closest to her appreciated her calm demeaner and her ability to just sit and listen. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds and her family meant the world to her.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 32 years, Robert; son, David (Hanifa) Cave, Susan O’Rourke; step-daughter, Jennifer (Jonathan); seven grandchildren, Ronald, Brandon, Connor, Breña, Trinity, Lillian, Nathan; three great-grandchildren, Raelynn, London, Maraya; brother, Eugene (Debbie) Helpard Jr. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by a step-son, Eric A. Bishop.
