Listen to Obituary

Madeline (Martello) DiManno, 96, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed peacefully at Huntington Living Center, on Thursday, November 27th, 2025. Madeline’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 15th at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment to follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery. Donations in memory may be directed to St. Patrick's Church (Parish Office), 35 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.

Madeline was born in Seneca Falls, daughter of the late Carmen and Amelia (Marrapese) Martello. She graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1947. In May of 1952, she married Richard DuVall Sr. A few short years later, in 1969, Richard unfortunately passed away, leaving Madeline to raise her son, Richard Jr. by herself. In 1976, she married Joe DiManno, a blessed union of almost 40 years until Joe’s passing in 2016.

Early on in her working career, Madeline had worked for General Electric in Auburn for several years. In 1966, she began working for Sylvania in Seneca Falls as a legal secretary. She worked there until her retirement in 1989.

Over the years, Madeline had developed a strong Catholic faith. She was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Church, where she was very active over the years. The only thing stronger than her faith was her love for her family. She loved to cook, especially known for her delicious lasagna, and later in life she took up crocheting. Every year at Christmas, she would give everyone in the family a pair of handmade crocheted socks; a true labor of love that she enjoyed immensely. In retirement, Madeline loved to care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She felt she was blessed with such a beautiful family. Around town, Madeline was frequently seen on her daily walks. She would walk 3 to 5 miles every day, until her health didn’t allow.

Madeline is survived by her son, Richard (Joni Cooley) DuVall Jr., four granddaughters, Victoria (Josh) Williams, Sophie (Howie) Heckerman, Abbey Cooley, Morgan Cooley; three great-granddaughters, Dorothy, Miriam, and Eliza; two great-grandsons, Spencer and Ivan; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Martello; several nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. In addition to her two husbands, she was predeceased by her brother, Eugene Martello; sisters, Josephine (Frank) Beeler and Margaret (Larry) Bertino.

Madeline’s family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at Huntington Living Center for their exceptional care of her these last few years.

If everybody lived their lives like Madeline, the world would be a better place.
