Margaret E. Hurd, 61, of Gouverneur, passed on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at Rochester General Hospital, after a brief illness. A private service will be held at the convenience of her family. Donations in her memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Margaret was born in Waterloo, daughter of the late Lavern and June (Reynolds) Kent, and raised in Seneca Falls. She attended Mynderse Academy. She lived most of her life in the Finger Lakes, but most recently was living in Northern NY.

Margaret is survived by her brothers, Rick (Tracey) Kent of Seneca Falls, Tim Kent of Waterloo, Jeff Kent of Seneca Falls, David Scharett of Sodus; sisters, Roxanne (Jeb Brignall) Wendt, Penny (Dennis) Colegrove, Robin Spino of Savannah; stepdaughter, Mary Jane Speis; and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Ken Hurd; brother, Larry Kent; and maternal grandparents, Pat and Elizabeth (Rheome) Reynolds.
