Massimo Giovannini, 70, a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM – 12 NOON on Tuesday, July 7th, at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, PO Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.

The family extends their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors at Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes for the compassionate care, kindness, dignity, and comfort they provided to Massimo and his family during his final days. Their generosity and unwavering support will never be forgotten.

Born in Seneca Falls, Massimo was the son of the late Joseph and Elisa (Franceschi) Giovannini. He graduated from Mynderse Academy with the Class of 1974. On August 25th, 1984, he married Rose Garafalo, his devoted partner and best friend, and together they shared more than 40 wonderful years of marriage.

Massimo was known for his strong work ethic throughout his career. He worked for several local companies, owned his own business for a time, and later spent many years with Freihofer's Bakery in Geneva, delivering baked goods throughout the region.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Massimo played football and baseball during his years at Mynderse Academy and remained an avid fan throughout his life. He faithfully cheered for the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Tigers and loved NASCAR, especially spending time with friends at races at Watkins Glen.

Massimo found joy in gardening, baking, and caring for others. He carried on the special Giovannini family tradition of making struffoli, bringing loved ones together to share in a sweet holiday custom. He also faithfully cared for a large colony of feral cats for many years, a quiet reflection of his generous and compassionate spirit.

He was a devoted member of St. Francis and St. Clare Parish.

Above all else, Massimo treasured his family. Growing up in a large family with six siblings taught him the importance of staying close, and he carried those values throughout his life. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, and he loved nothing more than gathering with family and creating lasting memories. Nothing, however, brought him greater happiness than being "Grandpa" to his cherished granddaughter, Gabriella, whose smile brightened his days and whose love filled his heart with immeasurable pride and joy.

Massimo is survived by his beloved wife, Rose; daughters, Casey and Jennifer Dare; his treasured granddaughter, Gabriella Dare-Brady; brother, James Giovannini; sisters, Adriene (Dan) Emmo, Paula Sposito, Lisa (Larry) Kurtz, and Victoria (Randy) Lanning; step-sister, Linda (Tom "Jigz") Faiola-Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Marie Palmer and Carol Garafalo; brothers-in-law, Richard and Stephen Garafalo; aunt, Dina Sandroni; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Terry Marino; his parents-in-law, Ralph and Jennie Garafalo; his stepfather, Sylvester Faiola; and his brothers-in-law, Emilio Sposito, Bob Marino, Ralph Garafalo, Jr., and Gene Palmer.
