Nancy L. Ficarella

Nancy L. Ficarella, 78, longtime resident of Farmington, passed on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic after a brief illness. As Nancy didn’t want people to fuss over her, there will be no formal funeral service. In following through with her wishes, Nancy donated her body to the University of Rochester Anatomical Gift Program.

Nancy was born in Batavia, the daughter of the late John and Georgia (Campbell) Nowatka. She grew up in Batavia, graduating from Alexander High School, and raised her family there before moving to the Victor/Farmington area. In 1965, she married Alphonso Ficarella, a union of 49 years before Alphonso’s passing in 2014. In 1982, she and Alphonso moved to Victor, where they managed Bernardo’s pizza shop for many years. The pizzeria was a true labor of love for the couple. She also had a love for her pets. Whether it was the dogs she had over the years, the race horses she owned, or her favorite cat, Sunny, she always held a special place in her heart for her animals. She treasured her Sunday morning coffee with her son Jeffrey.

Nancy is survived by her son, Jeff (Amy Kuykendall); daughters, Kimberly (John) Walters, Alison Ficarella; thirteen adored grandchildren; five beloved and adored great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and many dear friends at Farmington Gardens. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Stephen Ficarella in 2012.
