Nancy L. (Caulkins) Scannell

Nancy Scannell, 85, of Waterloo, passed at Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. Nancy’s graveside service will be held on Monday, November 24th, at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterloo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Waterloo Fire Department Auxiliary or to Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes.

Nancy was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Carlton and Janice (Mann) Caulkins. She graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1958, and worked for several years as the office manager for Dr. Saul Towers in Seneca Falls. After retiring from her first career, Nancy went on to work at both the Jockey and Kitchen Collection stores at the Finger Lakes Outlet mall for several more years before finally retiring for good.

Nancy was a life member of the Waterloo Fire Department Auxiliary where she previously served as treasurer, the Seneca County Medical Secretary Association, and North Seneca Ambulance. She also enjoyed crafting and NASCAR.

Nancy was married to Bernard “Pete” Scannell for several years, before he passed in 2000.

Nancy is survived by her brothers, Dean and Neil Caulkins; stepchildren, Ronald (Louisa) Scannell, Diane (Doug) Hay, Susan Elliotto; 8 step-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends, as well as her cat, Toodles. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Caulkins; step-daughter, Joanne Scannell; and sister-in-law, Doris Zwick.
