Patricia "Pat" M. Barbieri Goit, who recently celebrated her 80th birthday, passed away at her home on Monday, June 10th, 2024. She was born and raised in Seneca Falls, one of five daughters, to the late Anthony and Frances (Estes) Barbieri. After graduating from Mynderse Academy - Class of 1962, Pat embarked on a move to California that would find her working for the FAA in San Diego. She returned to Seneca Falls in 2009, after losing two husbands and a longtime companion.
Pat possessed a great sense of humor and grace, making her the life of the party; that love of life was appreciated everywhere she went. Not one to shy away from adventure, Pat loved travelling in her RV and navigating the world around her. She visited five of the seven continents and made many friends along the way. There will be many that will miss Pat's zest for life and her sense of humor.
She belonged to many national and local organizations that were very dear to her heart, including the SMS Auxiliary, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, Kiwanis International, Elks and Moose Lodges, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also volunteered at the Seneca Falls Historical Society, along with many local events to include the It's a Wonderful Life and St. Anthony's Festivals. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls.
Pat is survived by her sisters, Frances and Deborah Barbieri; brother-in-law, Ret. LTC Richard Tanner; nephew, Mark (Lisa) Tanner; great-niece, Wendy (Matthew) Buck; great-nephew, SFC Rick (Chelsea) Tanner; three great-great-nieces, Emma, Sophia, and Madeline Buck; two great-great-nephews, Duke and Declan Tanner; close friend, Mary Perdicho; as well as cousins, extended family, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her first husband, Ralph Schamel; second husband, Maj. Robert Goit; longtime companion, Elmer Williams; sisters, Dr. Alice B. Tanner and Marilyn Rhodes; nephew, Richard Tanner Jr., and her beloved dog, Bess.
Following Pat's wishes, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 10 AM, at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment to follow at St. Columbkille Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the It's a Wonderful Life Museum, PO Box 642, Seneca Falls, NY 13148, in her memory.
