Peter Markwort

January 9, 1953 — September 4, 2015

Waterloo - Peter Markwort, 62, passed away due to complications from diabetes, on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Clifton Springs Hospital, with his family by his side. The night of his passing, his life was celebrated with a Hand-fasting between him and his long time love, Sallie Sanpietro. Shortly afterwards, he left this world with ease, with the help of everyone's love and caring. There will be no prior calling hours, and another celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made in Peter's name, to a diabetic charity of one's choice. Peter was born on January 9, 1953, in Gladbeck, Germany. He was the son of the late Guenter and Margaret Becker Markwort. Peter relocated from Germany in 1980 and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua, NY. He was a Master Chef, and retired in 1995 from The Inn On The Lake, Canandaigua, NY. He continued to create his passion in cooking, to the delight of family members and friends. He also enjoyed photography, taking photos of wild birds, and loved watching hummingbirds. When he was younger, Peter enjoyed scuba diving, and developed an interest in astronomy. He was also an accomplished carpenter, taught by his father when he was young. His last couple large projects were a "Man Cave" shed and a porch for Sallie. Peter was a "larger than life" person to all who knew him. He liked to do things with gusto and debate with passion. He is greatly missed already.
