A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated that day at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery. Ron was born in Seneca Falls, son of the late Peter and Irma (Amorfini) Sandroni. He graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1949. He played high school football and was a member of their 1946 undefeated, untied, and unscored upon tri-county championship team. Ron furthered his education at SUNY Morrisville where he graduated with an associate degree in auto mechanics and played collegiate football for their undefeated team. He was later presented with the 2003 Distinguished Alumnus Award. From 1951 until 1953 he proudly served in the US Army. Shortly after serving his country, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Dina Franceschi at St. Patrick’s Church on October 24th, 1953. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last fall. He had worked for and retired as Plant Manager from Matthews International in Seneca Falls after many years.
Ron had many different hobbies and interests over the years. In his younger years he loved to play bocce, swing the clubs out on the golf course, and go bowling. After retirement, Dina and he would spend their winters in Florida to get away from the cold NY weather. Ron was notorious for being able to strike up a conversation with anybody he met and was quickly able to make friends. Throughout his whole life, Ron enjoyed being involved in the Seneca Falls community. He was a member of Kiwanis International, Seneca Falls Historical Society, served on the Board of Directors at Creative Choices Child Care Center, volunteered at the St. Patrick’s Church and carnival where he was a lifelong parishioner, and was an active SMS member dating back to the 1950’s. Ron was devoted to his family and very involved with his grandchildren and their activities while growing up. Being a passionate sports enthusiast, you would often find him in the bleachers supporting his grandchildren at their competitions.
Ron is survived by his wife, Dina; children, Judy (George) Chapelsky, Patricia (Donald) Mackey, David (Margaret) Sandroni, Susan (Thomas) Ruzicka, Ronald G. (Valerie) Sandroni, Steven (Wendy) Sandroni; twelve grandchildren, Jackie (Jason), Jennifer (Rob), Mac (Kari), Jesse (Melissa), Katie (Patrick), Wesley, Sean, Ryan, Bradley, Sydney, Ronald A., Isabella; ten great grandchildren, Jackson, Lucas, Jonathan, Jenna, Woody, Alice, Rosie, Leo, Reli, Grace; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by all his siblings, John, Joseph, Angelo, and Amelia Sandroni.
Ron’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both the nursing staff at Seneca Nursing and Rehab and Punky Toner for their care and support of Ron during his time with them.
