Roy M. Littlejohn

March 29, 1925 — January 18, 2018

Seneca Falls - Roy Myron Littlejohn, son of Emerson and Mildred (Coble), was born in Christiansburg, Ohio on March 29, 1925, and peacefully departed this life on January 18, 2018. Roy was predeceased by his beautiful wife Josephine (Marrapese), whom he married in 1948. They shared a joyful and impressive life together for 53 years. Roy is survived by his sons Rodney and Bruce, daughter Brenda (Denny) Peel, and beloved grandchildren David, Christian (Elaine), and Emily Littlejohn, Bo Shoemaker, and Abby (Tommy) McDonald. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Littlejohn Gilday, his longtime companion Alice Depasquale, and several nieces and nephews. Most people know the warmhearted 92-year-old as Roy; the US Air Force knew him for more than 41 years as Major Littlejohn. He navigated B-17 and B-25 bombers during WWII, then served as an officer in the reserves. When the war ended, Roy secured a job with a carpet and upholstery firm in the Utica area. He would travel to a variety of towns in upstate New York where he carpeted floors and reupholstered the seats in all the movie houses owned by the Shine brothers. He worked extensively in Geneva and in the nearby towns, where he met and married Jo Marrapese. They made a home and raised a family on the Lake Road in the Town of Seneca Falls. Roy then went to work for Ed Moore, ultimately bought him out, and relocated the store (Moore's Furniture) to Waterloo. Roy ran the business for more than 50 years. A world traveler and lifelong learner, Roy was devoted to keeping current with news and events. He spent many pleasant hours taking part in a variety of activities throughout his life: coaching Little League baseball, traveling extensively with his family and friends, reading, gardening, and fishing with his grandkids. Many know that Roy was an avid fan of country music, which stems from his childhood years growing up on a country farm where his family raised prize-winning Berkshire hogs. A longtime member of the BPO Elks, the Waterloo Sportsman Club, and the American Legion, Roy was regarded as kind and optimistic, a good neighbor, and a friend to all. He was, indeed, an officer and a true gentleman. Roy wouldn't want a fancy goodbye. He'll join his wife, Jo, at Grant's Cove in the warm waters off the coast of Tahiti. Friends are invited to toast an amazing man and a life well-lived at The Elks Lodge, 2221 W. Bayard Street, in Seneca Falls on Saturday, January 27, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Instead of flowers, please consider a contribution to North Seneca Ambulance at www.nsaems.org or 1645 North Road, Waterloo NY 13165.
