A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Steve was born in Geneva, NY on April 28, 1967 to James and Carol (Moreno) Skordy. He grew up in Seneca Falls and lived and worked in the area his entire life. He worked for years at Finger Lakes Textiles, a division of Mozaic, in Waterloo as well as other positions at Mozaic, but his favorite job was as the greeter at Avicolli’s.

Steve was a big fan of original rock and roll music of the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s and loved to sing along to his favorite songs. Known for his golden throat and tongue of silk, Steve loved to share his musical talents with family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling, especially to visit his younger sisters, Ann Marie in Florida and Mary Carol in Arizona, and took many trips with Chuck Valder of Sky Travel.

Steve was an avid collector and aficionado of skull t-shirts, and whenever he saw one he liked, he had to have it. A huge fan of the General Lee, the orange 1969 Dodge Charger made famous in the tv show The Dukes of Hazard, he told everybody that some day that car was going to be his. He also loved his Friday lunches at Connie’s Diner and Harley Davidsons.

Steve’s family meant the world to him. He valued family and close friends above all else and made sure those around him knew it. For all who knew him, Steve was always his unique self. He was the character of his family and a legend in his own time, and he will be missed dearly.

Steve is survived by his parents, James and Carol Skordy; sisters, Ann Marie Skordy and Mary Carol (Brent Webster) Skordy; aunts and uncles, Susan (Robert) Sweeney and Maureen (Leonard) Hornsby; all his New Jersey cousins as well as his beloved second family at his Cayuga St. home. Steve was predeceased by his grandparents; favorite uncle, Robert Skordy; uncle, Jerry Moreno; and aunts, Delores McCann and Mary Beth Moreno.

Steve’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Geneva General Hospital in the Emergency Department, ICU, 2 West, 3 North, and the Hospice care team that took such great care of Steve. In addition, his family graciously thanks all of the staff at Mozaic, the staff at Day Hab, and the nursing staff. Additionally they thank North Seneca Ambulance crews, and David Stobie, PA at Life Care, for his compassionate care for most of Steve’s life. Most especially they extend their heart felt gratitude to the incredibly kind, patient, compassionate and loving staff at 88 Cayuga Street, who made the house Stephen’s home.
