Verne S. Kuney

Verne "Dick" Schuyler Kuney Seneca Falls - Verne S. Kuney, 92, of E. Bayard St, Seneca Falls, died Sunday (October 23, 2016) in Geneva General Hospital following a short illness with family by his side. In accordance with Verne's wishes, there will be no calling hours or immediate service. Burial will be in Restvale Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca Falls Library. Verne was born on April 20, 1924 in Seneca Falls, the son of Homer and Ada (Huff) Kuney. A graduate of Mynderse Academy, Verne attended Union College and served in WWII with the 87th Infantry Division in Europe, earning a Bronze Star and receiving a Purple Heart. Verne was the first employee hired at Sylvania-GTE-Phillips in Seneca Falls in 1949. He worked as an Engineer until retiring in 1986. Verne was a Mason; a member of the Pocahontas Lodge #211, the American Legion and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Reynolds Kuney, his children, Daughter-In Law Mary Ellen DeSarro Kuney, Susan Teague, Cynthia Milanesi, William (Monica) Kuney and Kevin (Virginia Johnson) Kuney; his grandchildren, Joshua, Bradley, Angela, Carol, Gina, Michael, Maria and Elizabeth and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son David Edward Kuney and son-in-law, Bill Teague.
