Vilma A (Verzillo) Avveduti

Seneca Falls: Vilma Avveduti, 92, of Seneca Falls, passed away on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Visitation, immediately followed by a funeral service, will be held on Tuesday, June 8th from 12NOON - 1PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard Street, Seneca Falls. Interment to follow at St. Columbkille Cemetery in Seneca Falls. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Vilma was born the youngest of 7 children, on August 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Dominick and Annunziata (Gravina) Verzillo, in Seneca Falls, NY. She attended Mynderse Academy and graduated in 1946. On June 18, 1949, she married Joseph Avveduti, and the couple shared 68 years of marriage until Joseph's passing in 2018. Vilma was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the SMS Auxiliary, and volunteered at North Seneca Ambulance Corps in Waterloo. Over her working career she worked for Gould's Pumps, Dr. Emil Bove Sr. MD, and Midey law firm; all Seneca Falls businesses. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bocce at the SMS. She was a very loving mother to her children and "Nanny" to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Carol) Avveduti Jr. of Spring City, TN and Stephen (Lynne) Avveduti of Niskayuna, NY; daughter, Erica (David) Dec of Seneca Falls; six grandchildren, Leigh (Jon) Elkaim, Joseph (Gina) Avveduti III, David (Sydney) Avveduti, John Dec, Layne and Reed Avveduti; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Elkaim and Charlotte Avveduti, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, Vilma is predeceased by her brother, Daniel Verzillo and sisters, Mary Nicandri, Pia Neal, Frances Capacci, Helen Simeone and Eleanor Izzo.
