Wanda M. (Bennett) Waugh, 84, a lifelong resident of the town of Tyre, passed at Geneva General Hospital on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, with her family at her side. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A committal service for her, her late husband, Roger, and their son, Roger II, will be held at Springbrook Cemetery on Monday, May 4th at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the Tyre Fire Company, Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, or to an animal shelter of one’s choosing.
Wanda was born in Seneca Falls, daughter of the late Chester and Bertha (Wright) Bennett. She grew up on the family farm in Tyre and graduated from Mynderse Academy. On November 6th, 1960, at the age of 19, she married the late Roger A. Waugh. The couple were married for 60 years when Roger passed in 2021.
Wanda was a true farm girl at heart. Growing up on the family dairy farm, she was accustomed to long hours and hard work. When she was older and her parents passed, she and her family took on the responsibility of running the farm, a duty she truly loved. When the time came to move on from the farm, she transitioned to working for the Seneca Falls School District, where she drove bus for several years, and retired from in 2011.
In addition to the farm, Wanda was an avid collector. She loved to frequent thrift stores and garage/yard sales, looking for that one last piece to finish one of her many collections. She also loved to watch the birds out the window at her bird feeder and see all the different types of birds who stopped by. She was a lifetime member of the Tyre United Methodist Church.
Among all things though, Wanda loved to spend time with her family. From the beginning, they always meant the world to her, and they will miss her dearly.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Christine (favorite son-in-law, Marty) Furano, two grandchildren, Samantha Lotz and Nicholas Furano; three great-grandchildren, Giona, Madison, and Ethan Lotz; sister, Roberta Comiskey; special niece, Sherry Fairbrother, thrifting partner and great nephew, Dustin Bennett; close cousin, Susie Bates; as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was predeceased by her son, Roger A. Waugh II; and brother-in-law, Norman Comiskey.
