Albina A. (Vergamini) Meyers

November 26, 1939 — December 27, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Albina (Vergamini) Meyers of Romulus, on December 27, 2020. Our mother died from complications of COVID 19 at Huntington Nursing Home in Waterloo, New York.
Albina was vivacious, and full of life with a lively and truly funny personality when she was feeling well, which was much of her life. She suffered from depression and anxiety her whole life, but that is not her life story. She conquered her depression and her death with her strong Catholic faith of Our Blessed Mother and Jesus.
Her family and friends would agree that whenever Albina was near, there were laughs to be had; she was the life of the party! She loved life and embraced it. She was named after her paternal grandmother in Italy and her unique name was perfect for the special person she would become!

Albina was born on November 26, 1939 to Anna and John Vergamini in Seneca Falls, NY. She graduated from St. Patrick's School and then Mynderse Academy in 1957.

She married Richard (Abe) Meyers on October 27, 1962. Their daughter Jill was born in 1964 followed by their son, Richard, in 1971. Albina spent much of her time in the winter supporting Abe's wrestling teams at Mynderse and Waterloo until he retired, some 36 years later. You would find Albina practically at the edge of the mat yelling in support of her husband and his wrestlers.

She had a few jobs when she was younger including working at the Seneca Army Depot, which didn't last long. Albina was very creative and independent, and as her girlfriend stated, she was not going to have soldiers tell her what to do! She was also an employee of Goulds Pumps as well as Carmel's, a dress shop in Seneca Falls. While her children, Jill and Richard were young, she worked in a vineyard behind their house. They lived in a log cabin on Cayuga Lake built by herself and her husband Abe. She worked in that vineyard through all 4 seasons for a few years. Not long after that, she earned her real estate license and became a multi-million dollar seller for the former Malone-River Century 21 business. She excelled in this field because people loved her!
She was a determined woman and accomplished anything she put her mind to. Even with being petrified to fly, Albina took a Fear of Flying course preparing her to visit the village of Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia with her daughter, where the Blessed Mother of Mary was appearing. She loved trips and saw Pope John Paul II in Mexico, visited Disney with her family, took a bus trip to Nashville among others.

Albina may tell you that besides her family, her greatest accomplishment was starting a rosary making group at her parish of St. Francis and St. Clare in Seneca Falls and Waterloo. She came up with the idea when she was helping pack items to go to Nicaragua. In October of 2013, she called on her friend Kelly Raucher to help and along with others they started making rosaries together. Seven years later, the group has made over 40,000 beautiful rosaries that have been dispersed all over the world, including Nicaragua, for free!
Even without trying, Albina made a difference in people's lives and they love her for it!

Albina is survived by her husband, Abe, of 58 years; children who she loved so dearly; daughter, Jill (Tom) Sandroni; and son, Richard (Becky) Meyers; the grandchildren that made her life complete; Sabrena, John, Anna, Richie, Nathan and Ben, as well as her great-granddaughter Stella Rose, whom she was never able to meet in person; Albina's sister, Flora Novak; brother-in-law, Gene (Shirley) Meyers; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, John and Anna (Carfora) Vergamini; Abe's parents, Donna Rose (Dutcher) and Leonard Meyers; sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jerry Bortz; and brother-in-law, Bill Novak.
