Ann V (Amato) Sinicropi

March 9, 1920 — September 28, 2021

Seneca Falls

SENECA FALLS - Ann V. Sinicropi, 101, of Seneca Falls, passed away on September 28, 2021, with her sons by her side.

Ann was born March 9, 1920, in Yonkers, N.Y., to John and Maria (San Marco) Amato. The sixth of seven siblings, Ann had a special bond with her brother, Ralph, that remained until his passing at 102 years of age.

Ann moved to Seneca Falls in 1948, when she married Dominick "Skinny" Sinicropi. The couple shared 57 years together, at home in Seneca Falls, where they served the community delivering Meals-on-Wheels to those in need, and winters in Las Vegas, where Ann quickly developed close friendships in her knitting circles, line dancing classes and weekly trips to Arizona Charlie's until Skinny passed away in 2006.

During her long life, Ann had many different occupations, including, working as a seamstress and business advisor for "Don the Tailor" in Seneca Falls; operating her own beauty shop out of her home, and managing with her sister, Dolly, The Towne Shop clothing store in Waterloo.

Her greatest love was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Ann's ultimate joy was helping to raise her eldest grandchildren Jessica and Michael with old world wisdom, an abundance of love, lots of laughter and their favorite Italian cookies.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Rumseyville Sportsman Club, the Seneca Falls Historical Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Ann sat on the commission for the St. Anthony's Italian Festival in Seneca Falls for many years and was a recipient of the D.A. Padula Memorial Award.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and found great pleasure in making clothing for her family and friends to wear. Every newborn Sinicropi left the hospital bundled in a handmade Ann Sinicropi bunting. She was always quick with a joke and loved a good card game. She was also known to try her luck at the casino from time to time.

Ann is survived her sons Frank (Myriam Contiguglia) and James (Diane) Sinicropi; three grandchildren Jessica Sinicropi, Michael (Devon Messecar) Sinicropi and Amy (John) McLane; six great-grandchildren Gianna (Mason Douglass), Aubrey, Mya, Camille, Adam, and Scott; and great-great-grandson, Gianni. Ann is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kate Valentine; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Ann was predeceased by her four brothers; two sisters; and grandson, Adam Barone.
