Gil was born on Palm Sunday, April 14th, 1935, to Oren and Grace Cator, in Seneca Falls, NY. Gil was a conservationist in all aspects of his life, with a love and respect for the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing. There were many trips to the Deer Horn Lodge in Canada and the local fishing streams. He was a birdwatcher and could name all the birds. Gil was a 1953 graduate of Mynderse Academy. His first job out of high school was as a Canal Lock Operator until 1960 and also served in the US Army from 1957- 1959 with the meteorologist team in Greenland. In July of 1960 he started with Goulds Pumps, first as a Machinist and by the time he retired in 1993, as a Foreman.

He was a life member of the Elks, and with all his buddies, a member of the Fur, Fin, & Feather Club in Seneca Falls. Gil was active in the Trinity Episcopal Church, serving on the House and Grounds committee and the Vestry. His family holds many good memories of their husband, father, and grandfather.
