Joanne G. (Giovannini) Loucks

Joanne G. (Giovannini) Loucks, 87, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed at her home on Sunday, May 7th, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Burial at St. Columbkille Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life at the SMS. In lieu of flowers, donation in memory of Joanne may be made to St. Patrick's Church, (Parish Office), 35 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.

Joanne was born the daughter of the late Leno and Irene (Felice) Giovannini. She grew up in Seneca Falls and graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1953. Not long after graduation she married Donald Loucks on November 13th, 1954 at St. Patrick's Church. The couple have been inseparable for over 68 years.

Over the years, Joanne had worked in various fields. Out of high school she had worked for Bob Horton, a local attorney; while her husband Don was enrolled at Cortland State College she worked briefly as a medical secretary; and she worked for Mynderse Academy as a study hall monitor for 18 years before retiring. She particularly enjoyed being at the school because she found great reward in working with the children of the community.

Joanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend known for her ability to bring family together through food. She loved to cook and found great joy in having others enjoy the food that she prepared. She also enjoyed reading, especially her favorite author, Fern Michaels, and also enjoyed knitting.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Donald; children, Kevin (Debbie) Loucks, Donna (Eric) Brace, Karen Loucks, Lee Ann (Jim) Peterson; grandchildren, Kelli (Peter) Hawyrschuk, Josh (Amanda) Loucks, Rene' (Tim) Shaffer, Arin (Mike) Loucks, Joseph (Kaitlin) Saltenberger, Amanda (Isaiah) Sandroni and Christopher Plate; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Elodie, Adrien, Sebastian and Hudson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Michael Giovannini and just recently her sister, Mary Ann Rose.

Joanne's family would like to extend their gratitude to special friends and neighbors, Rick and Janice Swartz, as well as dearest relatives, Adele Giovannini and Joanne Vacca for their caring and thoughtfulness. Also, much gratitude to Toni Meeks who was not only a dear friend but also a "bonus daughter" as Joanne referred to her.
