Seneca Falls - John Carman Stapleton, 77, of 26 Center Street, Seneca Falls, passed away Monday, April 11th at Geneva General Hospital. Mr. Stapleton donated his remains to Northeast College of Health Sciences, to discourage research on nonhuman animals.

John was born in Seneca Falls, the son of Serena (Barbieri) and Earl W. Stapleton and lived in Seneca Falls his entire life. He was a member of the Bridgeport Fire District, life member of the Red Jacket Fire Department, a Director of the Seneca Humane Society/SPCA, served on several Town of Seneca Falls committees, was a member of the Seneca Falls American Legion Kirk-Casey Post 366 and VFW Post 1323. He was employed by Gould's Pumps from 1964 to 1999. He served two tours in Vietnam (1966-1968), was honorably discharged in 1970 and recipient of the following commendations: Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, National Defense Service, Combat Infantryman, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star with "V" device, Good Conduct Medals, and New York State Conspicuous Service Cross.

Survived by a sister, Shirley Lewis; nieces, Emily (Jeff) Price of Glen Allen, VA and Judith (Rich) LaPlante of Redmond, WA; nephews, Eric (Midori) Lewis of Okegawa, Japan and Michael (Christie) Stapleton of Kent, WA; close friend and partner, Mary Kelly Black, and several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins. John was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Earl and Michael.
