January 4, 1954 — August 22, 2022

Las Vegas

Kathleen T. Brophy passed away on Monday, August 22nd, 2022 at the age of 68 in the comfort of her home in Las Vegas, NV after a thirteen-year battle with cancer.

Born in Erie County, PA in 1954, Kathleen would call many more places home over her lifetime, including: Charleston, SC, Waterloo, NY, Charlotte, NC, and finally Las Vegas, NV. She and her husband, Jim, married in Washington, D.C. in 1977. She was an excellent seamstress, could always be counted on for a hug or sage bit of advice, and was deeply proud of the family and community of friends she and Jim made together wherever they found themselves.

Kathleen was not only a beloved wife and mother, but an avid public servant who (after a brief career in Nursing in her youth) retired from her more than 35-year career with the United States Postal Service in 2016. Following her husband Jim's passing in 2017, Kathleen moved to Las Vegas, NV to be with her daughter.

She is survived by her son David Brophy, his wife Melissa, their two children Kaylei and Zoey; her daughter, Jordan Sandecki; her siblings Martha Kosiorek, Alan Tech, and John Tech; as well as extended family and friends. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents, John Tech and Joanne VanCise; her brother, Blaine Botsford; and her husband, James (Jim) Brophy.

She will be buried in Waterloo, NY at St. Mary's Cemetery by Doran Funeral Home at the discretion of the family. She will be laid to rest with her husband with whom she shared 40 beautiful years on this earth. Her laughter, her love, her light, and her wisdom will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
