Marina was born in Cerageto, Italy on December 3, 1923.  She was the daughter of the late Nello and Elide (Pieroni) Pioli.  Her family immigrated to the United States when she was 4 years old and she became a United States citizen in 1950.  She was a graduate of Mynderse Academy and she married her high school sweetheart, Nicholas Delia, on November 27, 1943.  They were married for 70 years and raised two children together.

Marina lived most of her life in Seneca Falls.  She was retired from the former Geb and Souhan Yarn Co. and she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, both in Seneca Falls. Marina’s faith was very important to her. She attended mass faithfully and prayed the rosary regularly. She also volunteered at her church as a money counter and helped pack clothing for the Nicaragua Project.

Marina enjoyed the simple things in life.  She enjoyed gardening, tending to her lawn, bowling, and cooking and baking for her family and friends.  She was also a meticulous housekeeper. Marina was well known for her delicious apple pies, potato salads, Italian cookies, meatballs and homemade tomato sauce made from the tomatoes grown in her and her husbands’ garden.  She also loved Broadway musicals, dancing to the Big Band sounds with her husband, New York Yankees baseball, SU basketball and the Lawrence Welk show.

Above all else, Marina loved being with her family.  She treasured the time she spent with her husband, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She particularly enjoyed the times she spent babysitting her six grandchildren.  Marina will be deeply missed by her family and all those who were lucky enough to know and love her.

She is survived by her son, James (Judith) Delia of Romulus; daughter, Sharon (Richard) Tyler of Seneca Falls; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Delia, Kimberly (James) Eyerman, Laurie (Robert) VanThof, Cara (Andrew) Costello, Eric (Kelly) Tyler and Gregory Tyler; twelve great-grandchildren, Abigail and Luke Delia; Hannah, Chloe, James (Nicole Gallo) and Joseph (Caitlin) Eyerman; Casey and Nicholas Costello; Madison, Emelia and Luca Tyler; Brandon (Kristine Mackley) DiCicco; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoey Eyerman and Callie DiCicco; as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Nicholas, sisters, Marguerite “Marge” Dombrowski and Philomena “Figi” Morganti.

Marina’s family would like to thank the staff of the Pathway Home, Rochester Regional Home Care Hospice, and Kristine Daily, her home care provider and dear friend, for the loving and compassionate care they provided in her time of need.
