Philomena (Marcuccilli) Bertino

Philomena Bertino (91) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Geneva General Hospital following a brief illness.

Family and friends may call from 5-7 PM, on Thursday, May 26th at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard Street, Seneca Falls. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 27th at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by burial in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Philomena was born December 18,1930 in Arpino, Italy to Genaro and Anna Maria (Ranaldi) Marcuccilli. She immigrated to the United States in 1938, arriving at Ellis Island, NY and settled in Seneca Falls with her family. She was a life-long resident of Seneca Falls until her passing. She raised five children and worked at various industries including Sylvania and Seneca Knitting Mill, where she retired in 1992 after many years.

Philomena's greatest joy was spending time with her children and their families, as well as her large extended family which included many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She especially enjoyed attending weekly Bingo games and more recently visiting local casinos. She also loved riding the local RTS bus to go shopping and socialize. She became fondly known to other riders as "Grandma."

She is survived by her son, Carmen Bertino; daughters, Sandra (Roger) Gustafson, Veronica Arnott, Patricia (Mark) Scheuerman, and Joanne (Kyle) Maslyn; her granddaughters, Courtney (Carl) Mattice, Kelly Gustafson (David Baldwin), Lindsay Arnott (Martin Howe), and Chelsey (Marcus) Agnello; great-grandsons, Nicholas Davidson, Ryan Mattice, Maximilian Howe, and Jack and Brady Agnello; her sisters, Loreta Rea and Rocca Petti, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Philomena was pre-deceased by her brothers, Antonio (Tony), Orazio (Dee), and Pasquale (Pat) Marcuccilli.
