Remy J. Babineaux, 39, of Romulus, passed away after losing his battle to Covid-19 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Visitation will be on Monday, November 15th from 4-7PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4
East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 16th at 2:30PM at First Presbyterian Church of Ulysses, 69 East Main Street, Trumansburg, NY. There will be a reception at the Ovid VFW following the service. Remy was born in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of Remy L. and Kathleen R. (Morgan) Babineaux. He grew up in northern NY, graduating with the class of 2000 at Franklin Academy in Malone. Upon completion of high school, Remy moved to the Finger Lakes to be a Corrections Officer with the newly constructed Five Points Correctional Facility in Romulus. It was a career that he enjoyed, especially the camaraderie that he shared with his coworkers who were like his family. His coworkers will surely miss his cooking, especially his signature dish of a north country favorite, Michigans. Growing up in the north country, hockey became part of his everyday life. His passion for hockey lead him to become the Head Coach for both the Geneva Generals and most recently the Syracuse Blazers youth hockey teams. During his years coaching, he positively impacted the lives of so many children and their families' who enjoyed the sport of hockey. As Remy put it "Hockey family is the best." Remy was known for his selfless attitude and for always putting others' needs ahead of his own.

Remy is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sarah; beloved children, Kielee, Bryce, and Peyton; parents, Remy and Kathleen Babineaux; maternal grandfather, James (Faye) Morgan; a very special uncle, Jim "Timex" Morgan; father and mother-in-law, Bill (Karen) Schacht; brothers-in-law, Daniel (Eileen) and Jared (Lexii) Schacht; sisters-in-law, Rachel Schacht and Rebekah Morris, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by an uncle, Steve Morgan; paternal grandparents, Shelton and Scholastica Babineaux; and maternal grandmother, Linda Morgan.
